But that doesn’t mean you have to declare this day a wash—there are plenty of ways to celebrate the love between you and your significant other without risking your health.

Here are some great ideas for having a romantic time while social distancing. 

Recreate Your First Date 

If you’ve been with your partner for a while, it can be fun to look back on old memories and remember when your relationship was fresh and full of excitement. Recreating even a small part of your first date or most memorable night out can help bring back some of those butterflies, and there are plenty of ways to do that even while social distancing. If you went to a movie, see if you can find it on Netflix. If you had dessert from a certain restaurant, order it as a surprise for your S.O. We promise that a little preparation on your part will pay dividends in the end. 

Create Your Own Beer or Wine Tasting

This is the perfect opportunity to support small businesses. DIY your own tasting with four options from your local brewery or winery. Pick a few of your favorites and something you’ve never tried but are curious about. While your living room might not have the same ambiance as your favorite watering hole, it’s always fun to try something new with someone you love. 

Play a Game

Couples that haven’t been together long might try a game to get to know each other, such as “two truths and a lie.” This is an ice-breaking activity where you tell your date two true things about your life and one falsehood, and they have to guess the lie. This is a great way to discover new things about yourself and your potential partner. If you’ve been together for a while, you can take this activity a little more literally and bring out a board game or card game and get your competitive sides out. Having some fun quality time can do wonders for a relationship and strengthen your connection.
